Reminiscing...

It's been some time since I've posted on here, but I thought I'd go back to my childhood and tell you all about our family vacation in 1977.  My parents had decided we would go to Yellowstone Park for our summer vacation that year, we hadn't been to Wyoming before and would check out Fort Laramie and other sites along the way.  Something interesting seemed to always happen to us each year on our family vacations, and this year was no exception!
We left Kansas City  the first week in June as I remember, and we arrived in Yellowstone on or about the 10th.  Of course my mom had packed extra towels and a blanket or two, but my parents figured that my June there should be no winter weather.  Boy were we shocked to find on arrival that it was cloudy, cold, and it had started to SNOW!!!  All we had packed was as I mentioned; towels a blanket or two and a couple of sweaters!  This totally threw a "wet blanket" on our  idea of being able to see spring in the Rockies!  Well, we made the best of it and stayed the night in one of the cabins there.  We got to see Old Faithful faithfully do its thing at the precise time, and we got to see another tourist trying to get as close as they could to take a picture of an elk.  We just stayed for that next morning, and since conditions weren't going to get any better we slowly made our way out of the park and on down south to warmer, more springlike conditions.  The rest of our trip was nice, but the motto of this story is....BE PREPARED!!!!
